Slavic Turcan, a 38-year-old husband and father to three young children, was in a tragic accident on June 7 while riding his quad at the dunes. No one fully understands how it happened, but the quad suddenly accelerated to full RPM and threw him off, causing serious spinal injuries.
Slavic suffered a burst fracture to his T12 vertebra, with bone fragments pressing on his spinal cord. There’s potential permanent spinal damage, and pinched nerves are also suspected. He has been in excruciating pain and is undergoing a 9-hour surgery today. The outcome is uncertain, but we are believing for a MIRACLE.
On top of the emotional and physical weight, the financial burden is immense:
• Helicopter transport alone is around $50,000
• Surgery is estimated at $200,000 (and still pending final cost)
