Urgent Aid for Hailey Kelly’s Family

Hi, my name is Hailey Kelly. I am a 25 year old mom of 5 beautiful children, and a wife to my best friend, Matthew. I am making this fundraiser out of desperation. On April 29th our 5 week old son, Baker, underwent a major operation to remove the dead portion of his colon due to Hirschsprung Disease, a rare disease that 1 in 5000 babies are born with, where the colon doesn’t develop entirely, and the dead portion must be removed, or it can be fatal. We were released from the hospital one week after his surgery. Since our son being released, my husband Matthew has had multiple pain “attacks” in the center of his abdomen causing him to scream, cry and fall to the floor in pain, sweat profusely, and barely be able to breathe. These progressively have gotten worse, to the point that I had to call an ambulance for him twice. The first time he went to the E.R. they discharged him shortly after arriving to CAMC Memorial Hospital stating they “believed” it was a stomach ulcer, and prescribed him Protonix. The very next day after his first trip to the hospital, he had another “attack”, and I called another ambulance, which took him back to CAMC Memorial Hospital again. This landed him in the hospital for a week. While there, they did x-rays, CT scans, MRI’s, ultrasounds, EKGs, and many, many blood and urine tests. These all came back normal. The MRI showed an enlarged liver, and a “relatively full” gallbladder. His labs showed that his potassium was high, and his liver enzymes were elevated as well. The GI team wanted to do an EGD and Colonoscopy, and if these turned up nothing, they planned to do a liver biopsy. They performed the EGD and Colonoscopy on Wednesday morning, and said that everything looked perfect. Instead of doing his liver biopsy, they discharged my husband. Still in pain, with no answers. I am currently a surgery scheduler for CAMC hospitals. I have exhausted all of my PTO between taking off to be with my husband during this difficult time, and taking our now 2 month old son to his appointments, and provide the complex care he needs daily. My husband desperately needs to go to Morgantown to be re-evaluated, and to do so, I will need to take more time off from work. I am currently pending approval for FMLA, which will protect my job, however the time I would need to take off is time unpaid. We are a one income family, so during this difficult time, we are not bringing in the income we need to keep our home, or pay our bills. I am looking to you, the people in our community, for help. I am asking you, humbly, as a devout wife, and a mother, to please help our family.
