My baby cat Opal became sick this past weekend, losing weight, vomiting bile, and isolating. I took her to my regular vet and they did x-rays and bloodwork. Upon examination, they found that she was jaundiced. Bloodwork indicated liver disease. At barely 1 year old, I was shocked to hear this. Her vet told me that she was critical and if not taken to a specialist, might not make it. I drove her 2 hours away to the Veterinary Health Center at Kansas State University. They have performed an ultrasound, bloodwork, liver biopsy, fluids, and placed a feeding tube. More tests and treatments will be needed to save her, and I am not sure what her lifelong care is going to look like if she pulls through. I really need help to save her. She is the sweetest, most loving kitty and she deserves a long happy life. I don’t know what I’ll do if she doesn’t survive, and I don’t want to find out.
