Hello! I am Tara Ann Williams, born and raised in Jefferson, NC. I have lived in Asheville, NC, Wilmington, NC,Jacksonville, FL,and I spent a decade in Charlotte, NC, in February 2023, I relocated to Delaware. On August 18, 2023, I barely survived a severe hemorrhagic stroke. The ER doctor came out and asked Joe for permission to drill holes in my skull because he couldn’t get the bleeding to stop and my brain was swelling. When I came to in the morning, all of my nurses were yelling at me, “You’ve had a brain bleed! You’ve had a brain bleed!” I did not even know what a stroke was, to be honest. I had a feeding tube in my nose, and my nurse was putting all of my pills in applesauce. I did not understand why she was doing this. I yelled at her that I was never gonna eat applesauce again and why is she putting my pills in this nasty stuff! I have completely lost use of my left arm. Then, I survived a second stroke on November 24, 2023. After this stroke, I stayed in the hospital from November through April, 1 year &5months. I had a third stroke on August 15, 2025, comparatively this Strokewas minor, but caused double nystagmus
Oral hygiene is not a priority in the hospital. Therefore, I was finally seen at my dentist’s office. My insurance paid for my first two treatments, then the office applied for emergency funding for me, which will pay for two more visits. However, that leaves me a remainder of $1800 out-of-pocket cost. I have had very healthy teeth throughout my life, but it was the time in the hospital that caused my teeth to severely decay. I have never experienced tooth pain before in my life! I would choose the pain of a C-section overhaving this kind of pain! I It is unlike any other pain I’ve ever known. I would be so grateful for help with covering the remainder of my dentist treatments.
Secondly, my vision wasdamaged , as a result of all three strokes.. I no longer have peripheral vision in either eye. I was thankful to find out I would be able to get lenses so I could see. I wasn’t sure if this was going to be possible. I left myophthalmologist appointment in tears because I was fearful that I maynever see clearly again. My insurance covers my lenses; however, my insurance will not cover the frames, which are $500. I am in physical therapy rehab trying to learn how to walk again. I do not have sensation on my entire left side, so it is critical for me to look at my feet in order to walk. So, if anyone could find it in their heart to help me finish up my dental issues and get some glasses on my face so I can look at my feet (lol!), you would be supporting my journey to returning to walking again. Please donate if you can and please share.
