Hello. We are the Talakihaamoa family, Alexandrea & Sione. We have three young kids. My husband, Sione, has been out of work since December 2024 due to a previous injury from a few years back. He recently had a knee scope surgery and now he’s scheduled to have a second surgery on June 23rd, which will be a 6-week plus recovery. He will not be able to bear any weight for 6 weeks. I have been the provider since he’s been out with his little disability pay he gets through his job. We’ve been able to get by for some time with help from loved ones, which we are grateful for.
With him needing a second surgery, I need to take time off from my job to care for him and also our young kids. Unfortunately, I won’t qualify for FMLA due to not being on the job long enough. My only other option is to quit my job to care for him. We also just got notice we have to move out of our place due to some issues with city rules and the property.
