Help Russ Focus on Healing, Not Survival
Hi everyone,
We’re reaching out to ask for support for someone who would never ask for it himself—Russ. If you know him, you know he’s the guy who shows up early, works hard, and would give the shirt off his back to help someone else. But right now, he’s in the hardest fight of his life.
Earlier this year, Russ was diagnosed with colon cancer. After a major surgery to remove part of his colon, he started chemotherapy. Unfortunately, the side effects have been brutal—severe vomiting, diarrhea, weight loss, and near-constant weakness. He’s been in and out of the hospital just trying to get stabilized. Eating is nearly impossible, and most days are about surviving, not recovering.
Russ works a seasonal, physical job—and being out of work most of the summer means he won’t qualify for the same winter unemployment he usually relies on. The amazing company he works for has been helping him cover bills while he’s out, but they can only do so much—and we don’t expect them to carry this alone.
On top of all this, Russ’s wife is also chronically ill. She’s battled Crohn’s disease, colitis, osteoporosis, and severe vitamin deficiencies for years, making it impossible for her to work. Still, she’s the one who shows up for everyone, never complains, and always finds a way to care for those around her, no matter how sick she is herself.
This winter is going to be incredibly hard. Without some help, Russ and his family are at real risk of not being able to cover basics—mortgage, heat, groceries—just when he needs to be focused on healing, not survival.
We’re asking for any support you can give, whether it’s a donation or just a share. Russ isn’t one to ask for help, but if we can take even a little of the weight off his shoulders, it could make a world of difference in his recovery.
Thank you so much for reading and caring.
With love and gratitude,
Russ & Christy’s friends and family
