Hello everyone, as some of you may know, I’ve been dealing with chronic illness for 13+ years. Thankfully, for the most part, my condition had always been controlled in its own way with some temporary low points. However, the last 21 months have been the opposite of that.
In September 2023, I had a drop in my immune system, leading to me getting a severe infection in my intestines. Little did I know this would open a door to additional health issues. After several hospitalizations and rounds of treatment, my condition did not improve. Because of this, in April 2024, I ended up needing a transplant in my intestines. Thankfully, the surgery was a success, and I was looking forward to brighter days.
As I was recovering, I was beginning to have better days, minor pain but nothing compared to my condition before. This lasted all of 19 days. I once again found myself in the hospital, but this time I would come to find out that I had a blood clot in my arm (a very rare thing to happen). Along with this blood clot followed a list of other symptoms: uncontrollably high blood pressure, a constant heart rate of 150+, extreme drowsiness, vertigo, trouble breathing, chest pain, and so on. This led to being put on more medication and seeing even more specialists. Sadly, even after all of this, my symptoms never improved.
Fast forward to May 2025, and every day is a struggle for me medically. At this point, I am frustrated and at a loss with seeing any end in sight. My PCP sits me down and says it’s time to do something different since nothing had improved and everything that could potentially help improve my condition is put on hold due to my heart. She says it’s time to look for answers elsewhere. I make my way to Houston and come into contact with an amazing doctor. Come to find out that I was misdiagnosed by not one but two different cardiologists in the RGV and that my kidney is also playing a part in my declining health. As of right now, it is looking like I will be needing a stent in my kidney and possibly a pacemaker as well.
I am extremely thankful for this new doctor, but the coming appointments, surgery, testing, and new doctors do come at a big expense. I am asking for help to be able to continue to make my appointments in Houston and improve my health. Anything helps, and as always, I am so thankful for everyone who has reached out to me and my family, whether it be a call, message, prayer, or visit throughout this long journey. ❤️
