Hi friends and family!
About two months ago, I was diagnosed with embryonal carcinoma, a form of testicular cancer. It has been an absolute whirlwind in our household, but the good news is that we caught the tumor early, surgery and recovery was incredibly smooth, and my prognosis is very positive. We’ve been so fortunate to be surrounded by wonderful family, friends, and loved ones who have been incredibly supportive and gracious as we navigate this change.
The less good news is that before surgery, the cancer had spread to a few lymph nodes, and I will be undergoing chemotherapy. Although this particular form of cancer is aggressive, it should respond very well to the chemo (for my stage, this treatment has about a 98% cure rate, according to my doctors), so we’re hopeful that we’re nearing the end of this particular chapter.
Kyle and I will both be missing a fair amount of work while I’m undergoing treatment. We’re anticipating our medical bills adding up, and as we all know, the billing system is a bit opaque at the best of times (hooray healthcare!).
We’re asking our amazing community for some assistance – if you feel so inclined and are able, we would so appreciate a small contribution to help us out with medical bills and to cover some lost income. Your support – financial and/or otherwise – means the world to us.
If you’ve read this far, thank you, thank you, thank you for your time and love! We are so grateful and lucky to have the most amazing network of family and friends with us on this journey.
Love,
Mike and Kyle
