Hello, my name is Phyllis and I’m the mother of a beautiful daughter named Megan.
Megan has recently been diagnosed with advanced breast cancer. She has several masses in her breast that require surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation treatments. She is having a double mastectomy and because she has tested positive for the mutated gene PALB2 and SDHA, she will need extensive treatment for months following the surgery. Megan lives over 3 hours from the facility that will be providing her care, and due to the nature of the cancer and the treatments, Megan will not be going home for a long while As we navigate through this treatment journey, not knowing how long the journey will be , she is being advised to remain in the Houston area during her recovery.
Megan is 36 years old and has two beautiful children one of which was just born 9 months ago. It was heartbreaking to have a new baby and such a hard diagnosis all in less than a year . She has prayed for this baby for 8 years and finally received her blessing. Despite many hardships and struggles, she continues to rejoice, holding on to the living hope she has in Jesus as she trust in Him. Megan and her family are so much more than a medical diagnosis; this just happens to be a significant part of their story.
Many of you have shown your love, support, and generosity; many more are asking how to help. We request and value your prayers always and need them to continue. We also understand the desire to do something tangible to support Megan this season. This fund has been started as an avenue of generosity and is one way to show love and support. As one can imagine, the out of pocket expenses through this journey have already been adding up. The funds will go directly to Megan’s family to help ease some of that burden—covering medical expenses, daily living costs, and travel expenses as she navigates this incredibly difficult time.
