Support Marcela’s Mom in Her Cancer Battle

My name is Maira Raffles-Romero. I live in Spring, TX. I am starting a fund to help a friend in Colombia. She is the mother of a good friend here in TX. She was recently diagnost with stomach cancer. My friend’s name is Marcela Roa, and her mother’s name Elsa Mendoza Ballesteros. Marcela is unemployed, and already sent some money for meds, but she is running out of savings. Mom is on and off the Hospital as they won’t operate until her hemoglobine levels increase to a desirable number. The hospital’s name is Instututo Oncologico de Bogota Sur. In Colombia, the patient pays for medicine and medical equipment out of pocket. The operation is without cost due to volunteer doctors and government assistance for cancer patients. Mon is unable to eat solids as the tumor is blocking most of the entrance of the small intestine. Even liquid diet causes her extreme acid reflux. Hemoglobine level is raising little by little. She in in Bogota, but her home town is several hours from that city. In the meantime, she have to stay in a Vrbo appartment near the hospital, which adds to the cost. She is on a special high protein liquid diet and requires constant care, so her only other daugther in Colombia had to leave her job to take care of her. Is not known when she will have the operation. For the time being, our group of friend have tried to contribute by selling items in a yard sale, but tha bearly paid for part of the medicine. We need everyones help to assist Elsa. She has been a good mother and friend to those who know her, and she deserves the chance to continue living. Please help!
