Help Kevin Darden Recover from Advanced Heart Failure
Our dear friend Kevin Darden, was recently hospitalized after experiencing what he thought was a mild case of pneumonia and some fluid buildup in his legs. He had been feeling increasingly unwell, but remained focused on getting in to see his doctor as soon as possible to figure out what was going on.
Last Wednesday, Kevin was finally able to get an appointment — and things escalated quickly. His doctor immediately admitted him to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with advanced heart failure. His heart was no longer pumping well enough to supply blood to his kidneys, causing dangerous levels of fluid retention. He was started on emergency dialysis, and doctors also inserted a balloon pump to help his heart circulate blood properly.
Kevin has now spent several days in the hospital, fighting hard to stabilize and begin his recovery. While we don’t yet know the full scope of his road ahead, we do know that he’s facing a long journey toward healing — with mounting medical bills, time away from work, and uncertainty about what comes next.
Being out of work this long has already made a significant impact on his ability to keep up with basic living expenses — not to mention the growing medical costs he now faces.
