Our family is reaching out with heavy hearts to ask for support for my beautiful sister-in-law Keila and her husband Andy, who are facing an unimaginable journey.
On May 4th, Keila and Andy welcomed their precious baby boy into the world at just 30 weeks. Due to complications during her pregnancy, their baby has been in the NICU ever since. What should have been a joyful and exciting time preparing to bring their son home quickly turned into a whirlwind of uncertainty and fear.
Just two weeks after giving birth, Keila received a heartbreaking diagnosis at the age of 34: breast cancer.
Now, instead of focusing on recovering from childbirth and caring for her newborn, Keila is preparing for surgery and beginning chemotherapy — all while trying to remain strong for her baby and family.
As many of you know, Keila recently completed her nursing degree and began working in December. However, due to complications during her pregnancy, she was forced to leave her job — without paid leave. On top of that, Keila does not qualify for maternity leave benefits, adding even more financial strain to an already overwhelming situation.
This fundraiser has been created to help cover:
- Medical treatments and expenses not covered by insurance
- NICU costs for their baby
- Chemotherapy and related care
- Basic living expenses while Keila is unable to work
- Support for the baby once he’s home
Keila and Andy have spent countless days and nights by their son’s side, doing everything they can to be strong for him while facing the unknown. Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly to helping them navigate this incredibly difficult time — so they can focus on healing, parenthood, and staying strong as a family.
Keila is strong, determined, and deeply loved. With your support, we can help ease some of the weight she and Andy are carrying and remind them that they are not alone. Your kindness, prayers, and generosity mean the world to our family.
If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this page and keeping Keila, Andy, and their baby boy in your thoughts and prayers. Your support truly means the world.
With gratitude,
Jessica Vargas and Family
