My daughter-in-law, Kaitlyn, just 31 years old, was diagnosed with aggressive Large B-cell lymphoma almost a year ago. Since then, she has been through 2 rounds of chemotherapy, multiple hospitalizations, and 1 round of proton therapy (radiation). This diagnosis and the treatments involved have been mentally and emotionally exhausting for her. But she has an extremely positive outlook and just does what she needs to do to fight the lymphoma. She has been dealing with pain, nausea, and extreme fatigue from these treatments. But, throughout this entire process, Kaitlyn has continued to take care of her family (including a 3-year-old) and work 2 jobs.
Unfortunately, her latest PET scan (May 25) showed that she still has lymphoma, even after the treatments. She is now scheduled for a stem cell transplant at Emory Hospital in Atlanta on June 27. Kaitlyn will need to stay in the hospital for approximately four weeks and then will not be allowed to go back to work for another three months.
Because she has been battling cancer for almost a year, her medical bills are starting to mount up. Kaitlyn has a tough few months ahead of her. The family has been left with a lot of financial debt from her medical bills. We are asking for some help for her so that she doesn’t have to worry about her financial situation while she is in the hospital and out of work.
A little bit more about who Kaitlyn is. Kaitlyn moved here approximately five years ago from Australia, where all her family still lives. Kaitlyn is married to my son Damon who is a fireman for Cobb County. She has a daughter named Evie who is now three years old (4 next month). She works as a medical assistant for pediatrics.
Let’s all rally around Kaitlyn to help her get through this!!! Thank you so much for your support.
