Support for USPS Carrier’s Medical Bills

I am a mail carrier for USPS and had a curbside route in Florida. I loved it, but when my daughter moved to Illinois with my grandkids, I spent 3 years missing them. I managed to swap with another carrier and ended up taking his 12 miles a day, 5 days a week walking route. The route is tough in an old town of 6000; my route has broken sidewalks and terrain like ploughed cornfields. The first year was terrible. I was getting shots every 3 months in my knees. I figured the cause was being overweight and 67 years old. Not once did a doctor tell me I could lose my cartilage; they kept giving me the shots and medications. Finally, after 2 years, I was told I had arthritis. In November 2024, my knee popped as I was accessing my work vehicle with excruciating pain. I went to an orthopedic doctor. He gave me a brace and it was addressed as work-related, and he had me take a few days off. The other doctor kept giving me shots until they quit working. Then he informed me I was walking bone on bone; my cartilage was gone. I ended up with a total knee replacement on Feb. 17, 2025. A case was reopened for my knee for 4 months to date, but the nurse said I should have filed a work-related injury 3 years ago, so my doctor and his nurse have refused to submit a medical report as work-related. I am not getting any funds from my work; I am LWOP. I went through therapy for months since November 24, but the doctor now said I need another surgery. I was informed by DOL that it would not be approved because my doctor refuses to get it pre-approved and will not submit medical records for a work-related injury. I cannot bend my knee up to put on a shoe, let alone tie it. I can walk; it just won’t bend all the way. My medical bill is $200,000. My work has deleted everything on my paycheck, so my insurance I have at work is not getting my premiums to pay my bills. My daughter is a single parent with 3 kids struggling to take care of her family and is unable to help me. I need help. I’m sorry for the long message; everything has dominoed and I do not know what else to do. I have asked God for guidance but it is coming too close to losing everything I have worked so hard to keep.

Tranding Fundraisers

I’ve created this fundraiser on behalf of my dear friends, Sarah and James, who are enduring every parent’s worst nightmare — the loss of their beloved son, Leo.

We’re heartbroken to share that our dear friend Alex passed away far too soon. His light, his laughter, his incredible spirit — they touched so many, and his absence is deeply felt.

Hi everyone — Angela here, writing on behalf of Matthew (for now). On December 6th, completely out of the blue, Matthew suffered a severe stroke.
