Hi everyone. Thank you for reading. I know we see these all over, but this one feels different because it’s my mom and the grandma to my two babies. For the past year, my mother has battled lung cancer. She went through chemo and radiation and came out clear on the other side a year later.
That was until just a few months ago when our world was flipped upside down all over again. The lung cancer returned, and she also has kidney cancer that’s spreading all over her body. They removed 1 kidney, but it wasn’t enough. She was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and told she might have a year. She left that doctor and has been receiving exceptional treatment at The James. Most recently she had an anaphylactic reaction to her final chemo treatment and coded. We thought we lost her, but she fought like she always has and will continue to do.
One of my mom’s greatest joys in life comes from her 30+ years as a nurse taking care of people, seeing old patients, and retelling stories. Now I’m asking for everyone to help take care of her for once. My mom is strong, but she’s not able to work while she is battling this vicious cancer, and she needs help paying for these bills.
