My cousin Kat has dedicated her life as a nurse to caring for those enduring especially difficult times. She seeks out the most challenging nursing assignments, such as caring for children with terminal cancer and traveling to hospitals in cities overwhelmed by Covid, putting herself at risk to care for others on the worst days of their lives.
When I was diagnosed with a brain tumor at 33 years old, Kat jumped in the car with a custom cake in tow and drove 6 hours to use her nursing skills to help care for me and my kids after my major brain surgery.
Now, Kat needs our help as she endures her own medical challenges arising from the birth of her much-loved and wished-for son, Leo. Her medical complications have involved multiple surgeries, a lot of physical pain, and a lot of uncertainty about the future.
My hope with this fundraiser is that those of us who have been touched by Kat’s talent, kindness, and generosity will rally around her during her time of need so she can get well and care for baby Leo.
