Hi, my name is Esther Cherubin. I never imagined I’d be writing something like this, but here I am—reaching out with humility and hope.
I was diagnosed with lupus at the age of 18 and have been living with lupus for the past 12 years. Lupus is an autoimmune disease that silently attacks the body from within. Since then, life has been a journey filled with ups and downs, doctor visits, flare-ups, and learning how to live with a body that often works against me. Despite all of that, I’ve tried to remain strong, hopeful, and grateful for every good day.
Unfortunately, I have recently been diagnosed with Avascular necrosis. Avascular necrosis, or osteonecrosis, is a disease that results from the loss of blood supply to the bone. Eventually, bone tissue dies and the bone collapses. In my case, this was caused by long-term use of steroids (one of my daily medications). The pain has reached a point where it limits almost every aspect of my life—from walking to sleeping, and I now urgently need hip replacement surgery which is scheduled in Martinique. This isn’t just about comfort; it’s about basic mobility and quality of life.
The cost of surgery, along with post-op care and recovery, is more than I can manage on my own. That’s why I’ve started this fundraiser.
I’m hoping to raise 40,000 XCD to cover the medical expenses. Every contribution—no matter the size—makes a difference. And if you’re not able to give, simply sharing this with someone else would mean the world to me.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for standing with me in this difficult season. Your kindness, support, and prayers are deeply appreciated.
With love and gratitude,
Esther
