Urgent Appeal: Help Erins Fight Stage 3C Low-Grade Serous Ovarian Cancer
Dear friends, family, and compassionate supporters,
This message shares the news that Erin has been diagnosed with Stage 3C Low-Grade Serous Ovarian Cancer (LGSOC). The cancer has spread to the peritoneum and omentum.
This diagnosis has changed Erin’s life, requiring her to face a difficult battle against a rare and aggressive form of cancer. The stage 3C classification means the cancer has spread beyond the ovaries, making treatment more challenging.
About LGSOC and Stage 3C:
Low-Grade Serous Ovarian Cancer (LGSOC) is a distinct type of ovarian cancer that often affects younger women. Although it tends to grow slower than high-grade serous ovarian cancer, it is often found at advanced stages, like Stage 3C, where it has spread to the abdomen.
Stage 3C specifically means the cancer has spread to the peritoneum (the lining of the abdomen) and/or lymph nodes outside the pelvis, and includes distant metastasis but excludes spread to the liver.
Erins’s Journey:
Erin’s journey began with non specific symptoms that were dismissed by a doctor. After finding a new care team, the symptoms were investigated further and after several tests and biopsies, ovarian cancer was identified.
Erin had a radical surgery with hysterectomy, oophorectomy, and tumor debulking as well as internal reconstructive surgery four days after her 40th birthday in 2023. Once surgically cleared, she went through 28 rounds of radiation.
The 3C diagnosis with metastasis was confirmed after a biopsy was done on suspicious growths that presented in her most recent CT scan.
The Road Ahead:
Erin’s treatment plan includes surgery, and possible chemotherapy, which will not be confirmed until after surgery. Surgery is important for removing as much of the tumor as possible. However, the cost of cancer care can be significant.
How You Can Help:
Dealing with a complex cancer like Stage 3C LGSOC presents physical, emotional, and financial challenges. Your support can make a real difference in Erin’s fight. Donations are requested to help with the following:
Medical expenses: Covering the costs of surgery, chemotherapy, hospital stays, medications, and other necessary treatments that may not be fully covered by insurance.
Living expenses: Providing support for daily living expenses, such as food, transportation, and other needs, as Erin may be unable to work during treatment.
Emotional support: Ensuring access to counseling, support groups, and resources that can help Erin and her family navigate the emotional challenges of cancer.
Every Donation Counts:
No amount is too small. Every donation will bring hope and support to Erin and her family. By coming together, some of the financial burden can be reduced, allowing Erin to focus on healing and recovery.
Consider donating to this fundraiser campaign and sharing it with your networks. Your generosity and support mean the world.
Thank you for your love, prayers, and support for Erin during this difficult time.
With sincere gratitude,
