Hi, I’m Daphne Oliver, writing to you from Brentwood, Tennessee.
For the past three years, I’ve been silently battling a condition that many people shrug off — but for me, it’s become life-altering. I suffer from progressive flatfoot deformity in both feet, which has caused constant pain, limited mobility, and loss of balance. Standing for more than a few minutes, let alone walking long distances, has become impossible without severe discomfort.
I’ve always been independent — working, volunteering, and taking care of my family. But lately, even walking around my home feels like climbing a mountain.
What’s Needed
After multiple consultations, my doctor has recommended reconstructive foot surgery, which would give me the chance to walk again without pain and avoid long-term disability. However, even with partial insurance, the out-of-pocket medical costs are overwhelming.
Goal: $6,200
Breakdown of expected costs:
Surgical co-pays + follow-up appointments: $3,000
Custom orthotics & post-surgery boot: $700
Physical therapy (12 sessions): $1,200
Transportation to/from appointments: $300
Recovery aid (walker, safety equipment): $300
Loss of income during 4-week recovery: $700
I’m not one to ask for help, but I’m learning that sometimes, healing requires leaning on others. If you’re able to give — even a little — it brings me closer to being pain-free, active again, and able to show up fully for those I love.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading my story, sharing it, or contributing. This surgery could change my life — and you can be a part of that transformation.
With gratitude,
Daphne J. Oliver
