Hi my name is Leslie Marshall and I am starting this fundraiser on behalf of Christine Marie Crenshaw and her husband John.
But before I tell you what the fundraiser is for I want to quickly share with you why me? I am not family , nor have I actually met Christine in person. Our relationship spans five years and she came into my life at an extremely dark time, as I was preparing to lose my husband. This beautiful soul felt my pain, reached out to a stranger (me) and sent me a painted rock with a powerful, inspiring message. And thus our relationship began.
You see that’s what Chris does – she helps others. Despite her struggles, internal battles and health she sits quietly on the sidelines, watching and learning. When she feels a need or opportunity she jumps in often in the form of a raok(random act of kindness), a painted rock. Even at her low points she finds the time and energy to send someone a smile!
On May 31st, 2025 Christine was brought to the er at her husband John’s insistence. Long story shortened, privacy preserved – it was determined she had a rare, severe life threatening infection. She was admitted to icu and quickly underwent a very invasive surgery. She remained hospitalized for almost two weeks.
During that time it was discovered that in addition to the infection her body was suffering from complications related to diabetes. They also determined that she will need another serious and invasive surgery to remove an eroded lap band in the coming months. Unfortunately Christine needs to heal from this surgery first.
Her kidneys are compromised from both the infection and the medications and they are very concerned.
Chris is really struggling with this emotionally and physically. John is the sole provider and is trying so hard to be her caregiver yet maintain his job and take on additional tasks. They are both exhausted and overwhelmed – they need help. Help from family, from friends and from strangers.
The goal of this fundraiser is to throw them the lifeline they have so often given to others. To raise funds to help minimize the stress, pay the bills, put food on the table, to ensure the medications she desperately need are available.
Christine doesn’t want to ask for help but definitely needs it and certainly deserves it!
