Hi, my name is Cassi. At 29, while planning my wedding, I went in for a routine breast exam and got irregular results. Given my family history—especially my mom’s battle with breast cancer—we decided to move forward with genetic testing and additional screening. That led to a mammogram, a breast MRI, and eventually a conversation I’ll never forget: “Do you have life insurance?”
Shortly after, I learned I was BRCA1 positive. I had a significantly increased risk of developing breast and ovarian cancer. Just one month after getting married, I made the incredibly tough decision to undergo a double mastectomy. I chose to take everything to give myself the best chance at a long, healthy life.
After wearing expanders for over a year, I had my exchange surgery—and not long after, I underwent a total abdominal hysterectomy. It was a lot, physically and emotionally. But I made it through. I’ve kept going. I’ve stayed hopeful.
Now at 33, I’m healing and continuing to rediscover myself. This fundraiser is to help me reclaim a piece of confidence I lost. I would love to either:
• Purchase a high-quality chest prosthetic (like a pair of “@ipples”), or
• Get a beautifully designed chest tattoo to cover my mastectomy scars and celebrate the strength I’ve found through this journey.
My goal is $900. Every little bit helps. If you can donate or share, I’d be forever grateful. Thank you for supporting me in showing the world:
I am fierce. I am strong. I get back up again.
With love,
Cassi
