My name is Gaye Hanson-Rieger. This page has been created for my husband, Brian Rieger. If you have had the pleasure of meeting Brian, you know he is an extraordinary, kind, and hardworking man who is a source of strength for his loved ones and friends. He lives a life dedicated to excellence: in service to his customers in his property management business, in support of his teammates, and in loving his family and his Lord, Jesus Christ. Following the example of Jesus, he has a servant’s heart that is always on the lookout for how to help his church, friends and family, as well as strangers. He is rather shy and laid back, but his dry sense of humor brings laughter wherever he goes!
On April 28, 2025 he was playing basketball with a group of awesome friends. As play began, he suddenly collapsed on the court with no pulse; his heart had stopped with a Cardiac Arrest. His friends sprang into action, calling 911 and running for assistance. An employee at the gym acted heroically and used an AED on Brian, shocking his heart and performing CPR. He was able to get Brian’s heart going again! Join us in thanking God for that young man at Lifetime in Bloomington!
Brian continued to be unconscious as paramedics arrived and worked hard to get him stable enough for transport. They too performed heroically, as did the doctors and nurses at Southdale Hospital. Further testing revealed that Brian had significant blockages in the arteries of his heart at 100, 95, 90, and 70%. Tests also revealed that despite everything, there was no damage to the heart muscle! God performed so many miracles to keep Brian alive. We are overwhelmed by God’s grace and goodness!
He was placed in the cardiac unit while he waited for quadruple bypass surgery on May 2, 2025. He was then placed into the Intensive Care Unit, where he remained for days until he was moved to Intermediate Care. 6 days later, he received a defibrillator implant in case of another cardiac arrest. After 13 days in the hospital, Brian was released to come home to heal, recuperate, and participate in Cardiac Rehab so he can live to thrive once again.
As you can imagine, with 13 days of specialized care in the hospital, there have been significant medical bills. We have insurance, however, we have astronomical deductibles and out of pocket expenses. Brian and I are facing the lack of income for at least 4 months during his very busy season plus substantial medical costs. In light of this, we humbly present this fundraiser request. Our need is to replace Brian’s income while he heals and to help pay medical expenses. Thank you for considering. We are so thankful for you.
