On October 1, 2023 my husband Bobby had a stroke. He was only 56 years old. He lost complete mobility of his right side. He went through extensive, continuous therapy to get back as much mobility as possible over the first year and then insurance would no longer pay for therapy. Although he has made great progress, and is back working part-time, which we are thankful for, he’s realized that he is unable to go back full-time. He has balance issues, has a plastic brace on his right leg as he has toe drop, his knee and ankle don’t bend when he walks, and it’s uncomfortable and sometimes painful. Because of this he is unable to drive, can’t walk long distances, walk with me or our dogs or on uneven surfaces because he can’t hold his balance. His mental health has taken a toll, he feels like 1/2 a man because he depends on me to get him to the places he needs to go which include work, the pharmacy, the grocery store, doctors appointments and stroke victims meetings. It also inhibits me from taking on full-time work or being able to pick up an extra shift as I work around his schedule. Bobby has done a ton of research on stem cell therapy which has a positive ratio of 2:3 with stroke victims. This stem cell therapy would give him a fighting chance to get off disability and get back to full time work. It would give him the possibility of getting back his normal life and especially his independence and positive mental attitude. The therapy uses his own marrow and filters it back into the part of his brain that isn’t working properly. It’s a 3 day procedure that takes place in Chicago. Insurance does not pay for this so we are on our own. Please help in any way you can. Any amount is greatly appreciated!
Thank you,
Barbara and Bobby
