My name is Asia and I have 2 boys and recently delivered my little girl 4 weeks ago. I’ve been in really bad pain during pregnancy so I didn’t think much of my back pain and pelvic pressure. It started when my left leg and groin was becoming painful. Eventually it got to the point my leg became purple, I couldn’t walk on with without extreme pain, and I had a big lump that was super tender.
I went to Texas Health ER on 06/07/24 and they diagnosed me with DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis) blood clot and gave me blood thinner injections (so I could still breastfeed) and sent me home.
The next day my leg pain was so severe without even moving. I could not move or even touch it. I ended up coming back to the ER and told them I had severe abdomen tenderness and pain. I then had trouble breathing and had chest tightness. They ran an EKG which turned out normal. They ran a CT scan of the abdomen and chest in which they found a huge clot in the abdomen and some small ones in the lung. I was diagnosed with PE (Pulmonary Embolism) at this point.
I waited 2 days for the surgery, for it to be delayed. Once they put me in the surgery triage room the anesthesiologist came in and said he did not feel comfortable proceeding anesthesia as they did not have all the equipment needed in case they needed to save my life as the procedure was too risky. (As the clot from my leg / abdomen could potentially break off more and go to my lungs making it worse)
I am being transferred to a hospital in Dallas where they can further assist me but after being on maternity leave and I am supposed to be going back to work tomorrow (06/11/25) I will now have to extend my FMLA. My birthday had just passed (06/04) and my sweet baby is still waiting for me and I’m missing a lot of her early days and it hurts my heart that I spent so much time after being in so much pain then and now. I just happen to be one of those rare cases.
I’m asking for lots of prayers and if possible and /of if you can truly help without putting yourself in a position it would be a tremendous help as we run into this difficult time.
Thank you all so much!
