Help My Mom Fight Ovarian Cancer and Care for Her Family
Hi, my name is Marshan, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my mom, Marvina who was recently diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
This has been one of the most heartbreaking moments of our lives. My mom is the strongest woman I know—a single parent whose life has never been easy. She raised us the best way that she knew how and instilled in us empathy, love, strength, and selflessness, and now, she’s facing the fight of her life.
While my older siblings and I are helping her the best way we know how, it is almost impossible to provide for her financially all on our own and also support my younger brother, who is currently 15, going on 16. My mom is his sole caregiver, and even while battling cancer, she continues to do everything she can to make sure he’s cared for, fed, supported, and still has some sense of normalcy.
For those of you who may not know, ovarian cancer/cancer treatment in general is expensive, more than we ever could have imagined. Her insurance only covers chemotherapy, leaving us with the overwhelming costs for surgery, imaging, follow-up care, and the daily medications she needs just to get through the side effects. We’re doing everything we can, but the bills are going to keep coming in, and it’s more than we can handle alone.
