Sometimes life changes in the blink of an eye. What began as an ordinary day for my sister, Tiffany, and my brother-in-law, Jason, turned into a life-changing emergency.
Three months ago, Jason suffered a sudden and massive heart attack at just 38 years old and went into cardiac arrest. In order to save his life, doctors placed him on ECMO—a form of life support that takes over the work of the heart and lungs. While this extraordinary measure gave Jason a second chance at life, it came at a cost. During the process, he suffered three strokes, leaving him with lasting challenges that he’s now working to overcome through intensive therapy.
This weekend, Jason turns 39—a birthday we are so incredibly grateful he’s here to celebrate. But the journey ahead is far from over. Jason is currently undergoing physical, occupational, and cognitive therapy to regain strength, skills, and independence after the trauma his body endured.
What makes this even more heartbreaking is that Tiffany knows this kind of fight all too well. Ten years ago, she was on life support herself, facing her own critical health crisis due to Cystic Fibrosis. She survived, against the odds, and now she’s standing by Jason’s side as he faces his own battle for recovery.
They’ve already overcome so much together—and now, they’re trying to hold onto hope while managing the emotional and financial weight of this crisis.
They would never ask for help, which is why I’m asking for them.
If you feel led to help in any way—whether that’s through kind words, prayers, or a contribution—it would be deeply appreciated. They’ve been through so much and continue to face it all with courage and grace.
Thank you for reading and for caring about two very special people in an incredibly difficult season.
