Hi! My name is Sofia! When I was 17, I traveled from Colombia by myself to the United States with the goal of looking for a better life for myself, and with the hope that someday I could reunite my family. My family and I used to live here in the States. In 2008, our lawyer decided to bail on my parents and run away with the money they had worked hard to start working on their legal status, and unfortunately, they got deported.
I am 20 years old now, and I’ve been working multiple jobs just to sustain myself and help my family out, trying to bring them back here so we can all be together again. But recently, I’ve discovered an issue that gave an unexpected turn to my goal. I am going through some medical problems with my blood pressure, making me suddenly pass out in the middle of work, issues that I don’t fully understand yet and that I’m still trying to figure out with doctors. Unfortunately, the medical bills have been delaying everything for me at the moment, making it impossible for me to keep my multiple job rhythm, making some tests for my heart, and drowning in bills.
My family is very concerned for me, and they try to do anything they can to help me, even if that means them not being okay. But I want to be strong for them. All I need is a little bit of help, a support so I can discover what condition I have and how I can treat it so I can keep working on my goal.
