Hi, my name is Meredith Cheney, and I never imagined I’d be here—asking for help just to survive. I’ve struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember, and years ago, I made the difficult decision to undergo Lap-Band surgery. Unfortunately, that procedure turned into a long-term nightmare that lasted nearly 14 years.
When the band was finally removed, my body went into crisis. Since then, I’ve been living with a cascade of serious health issues: a dangerously enlarged liver, type 2 diabetes, IBS, arthritis in every joint, full-body swelling, and worsening depression. My body feels like it’s shutting down, and every day is a battle just to get through.
Doctors are still running extensive tests to uncover the full picture, but one thing is already clear: I urgently need another bariatric surgery to have a chance at reversing the damage and regaining my health. Devastatingly, no insurance I’ve found—including through the healthcare marketplace—covers the cost of the surgery or the ongoing care I need.
So now, with all humility, I’m reaching out to friends, family, and compassionate strangers. I am fighting not just for my health—but for my life. This fundraiser is my last hope to access the medical intervention that could save me. If you can donate, share, or send a word of encouragement, I will be endlessly grateful.
Thank you for standing with me in this incredibly hard season. Your support could truly be life-saving.
