Currently, Robert is hospitalized at the UMMC in Jackson. His blood pressure is categorized as a hypertensive emergency and he has a severe infection in his abdomen. Surgery is absolutely required!!
He began this journey back in 2022. It has been a long road. It’s been very difficult to diagnose despite repeated doctor, hospital, and specialist visits up until April of this year. He spent days at a time unable to get out of bed, eat, spend time with his family, and missed a great deal of work. When this all began, he was employed and had insurance through work; however, due to the long delay in diagnosis and the many, many days he could not be up and functioning, he was unable to maintain his workload, thus being laid off.
Being a matter of necessity, he has sought employment elsewhere for duties he could still satisfactorily perform despite his condition worsening. He has employment but is unable at this point to secure any medical coverage that would assist with his condition.
We now at last have a diagnosis as a result of many, many, many tests, labs, imaging, and repeated appearances in the emergency room. He has had a hernia for quite a while now that is unusual in terms of its location/presentation, and it has been slipping in and out of place, which has led to the circulation being cut off intermittently in his bowels, etc. It’s caused so many additional problems, severe ongoing infections, and we are told that his bladder, liver, and kidneys are also now affected. It is possibly life-threatening and surgery is desperately needed!!!!!
Again y’all, this is not covered by any insurance at this time. It is prior existing even if he were to have coverage moving ahead for all other medical needs. We applied for financial assistance with UMMC to help pay for the procedure, but we still must pay around $1600.00 up front in order to schedule. Please, if you are willing and able to chip in anything! We would be extremely thankful and more relieved.
We are so hopeful that he can finally begin healing as he has certainly had a hard, long road that is behind him and that is beneath his feet today. Any contribution would mean the world to us
