Richie B’s Fight: From Amputation to Job Loss

Hello just wanted to start off by saying I could be anybody out there anybody reading this, because of my pre-diabetic medical situation I’ve developed neuropathy in my feet it turns out I injured my foot and didn’t realize it because I couldn’t feel it it became infected and for the better part of 12 months I spent on antibiotics and four partial amputation surgeries of my right foot I am now healthy and able to return to work with no restrictions full time

But my multi-billion dollar corporation that I worked for felt the need to eliminate my position because of the length of time I was on long-term disability which was about 5 months they said they did it for legal and financial reasons it didn’t make financial sense to keep my position open

My managers and coworkers that I kept in reasonable contact with during my illness assured me each and every time I spoke with them your position is here we have the work we miss you just get better just get healthy and if there’s anything we can do etc

Around the middle of May 2025 I finally received my letter from my doctor stating that I’m able to return to work went through the prosthetic process which was basically out of pocket and not cheap as you can imagine but that’s okay cuz I’m going back to work so I thoughtI immediately sent the letter out to all concerned parties and began preparing for my return to work after this incredible battle with my health a good wake up call as well going to be 60 in September sometimes you need a health scare like this to wake you up to what’s possible as you get on in years and with the pre-diabetic condition

Five or six days before my return to work I was informed that my position was backfilled still not sure what that means

When I expressed my concerns over being informed that my position was gone so late in this process they told me of a letter that I received from Cox automotive back in April warning me that my position could go away to make it worse they sent it in an email at 3:00 in the morning on a Saturday can’t call anybody about this until Monday morning .

When I got in touch with long-term disability department at Cox they told me that’s Cox covering their butt so to speak legally your position is there your position is open this is a formality you can pretty much disregard the letter I was told that again by a long-term disability specialist at Cox taking a huge sigh of relief and continuing with my recovery from amputation surgeries I moved on and put that worry behind me

So I did what I could to get back to work ASAP ready to be a valued asset and quality employee that I’ve always been I’m a good soldier I take all as well and I like being part of a team a team player

So my disability went away on June 8th I’m scrambling to pay my deductibles copays still to this day they’re already threatening to begin the collection process

That bill alone is over 3,500

Bottom line to all this I wasn’t working for some Mom and Pop small company I’m working for a corporation that’s in over 100 countries been around forever as I standed earlier multibillion dollar operation and I lost my job to an illness I think that’s unforgivable and downright disgusting

We are still a judeo Christian country I don’t think hard-working law-abiding good people should lose their job to an illness so I have my hand out not my proudest moment but I could use a little help for anybody that can spare a dollar or two thank you

God bless be safe and be well

Tranding Fundraisers

I’ve created this fundraiser on behalf of my dear friends, Sarah and James, who are enduring every parent’s worst nightmare — the loss of their beloved son, Leo.

We’re heartbroken to share that our dear friend Alex passed away far too soon. His light, his laughter, his incredible spirit — they touched so many, and his absence is deeply felt.

Hi everyone — Angela here, writing on behalf of Matthew (for now). On December 6th, completely out of the blue, Matthew suffered a severe stroke.
