Shawn and I are reaching out and asking you for help in this most trying time.
Shawn was taken to our local ER on Wednesday (6/11/25) for weakness and the inability to control movements in his right side. We were lucky that his ER doctor took him seriously from the start and ordered him an MRI.
The MRI showed 5 lesions in his brain. The doctor said they were unable to treat Shawn there and had him transported to Indy asap.
Once we arrived in Indy his ER doctor ordered a few CT scans immediately. His chest CT shows a mass behind his esophagus.
He was then admitted to the hospital with a very large team of oncologist and infectious disease teams.
Shawn has had a lumbar puncture and a biopsy on his chest, unfortunately at this time we are waiting for Shawn’s tests results to come back. Until then we do not know if he is dealing with a very intense infection or cancer.
Either way we are looking at a very long road ahead of us for treatments and physical therapy.
We are asking for your help as we are both new at our jobs and have very little insurance and our job is threatening our employment status so we do not know what we are going to do.
We bought our house two years ago and look forward to being able to stay there for a long as we can, but between the hospital bills and not being able to work, we fear for the stability of our home security.
I know it is a big ask, but if you have anything to give, it would be appreciated more than you will ever know.
