Our family has been through unimaginable challenges due to Brugada Syndrome, a rare and potentially life-threatening genetic heart condition. Our son Nadav, born in October 2022, suffered four cardiac arrests before the age of two and now lives with a pacemaker and defibrillator. His condition stems from a mutation in the SCN5A gene, which we recently discovered also runs in our family. My husband, last year at the age of 29, went into cardiac arrest during a routine test and now also has a defibrillator and pacemaker. Our six-month-old daughter, who is also a carrier of the Brugada gene, is currently stable—but every day we live with the fear that she too could go into sudden cardiac arrest.
We are urgently trying to raise funds to purchase an at-home defibrillator to ensure we’re prepared in case of an emergency. This device could save her life. Any support, no matter the size, means the world to us and brings us one step closer to keeping our family safe.
