Hello,
My name is Delanee. On May 31st, I had a grand mal drop seizure (tonic-clonic seizure) while in Nebraska for my grandfather’s funeral. I ended up lacerating my head on a glass display case and needed six staples to close the wound. This left me with a moderate-severe concussion and a bit of head trauma. The EMS team told me I’m lucky to be here as I did stop breathing and lost quite a bit of blood. I’ve struggled with persistent memory loss, full-body tremors, and visual disorientation since the incident occurred. With a previous death of a sibling in the family due to drowning from a seizure, “hemiplegic migraines” that mimic stroke symptoms that could potentially be partial seizures that were misdiagnosed since I was around six, I’m looking at some time out from work while I heal and get testing done. I have two kids that rely on me to keep a roof over our heads and food on our table, so I would like to get back out there as quickly and as safely as possible because I have people counting on me to get home safely. I set up this fundraiser in hopes to raise money to help with the costs of a service dog and the training of said service dog. A service dog would help our situation immensely in many ways: alerting to oncoming seizures or “migraines” to avoid falls, protecting my head, getting help from people or providing comfort, as well as licking my face to pull me out of unconscious states. The main appeal is that potentially I may be able to resume my career as a dog groomer and not have to worry about the pets’ safety or my own as much, so I can hopefully become stable in society again. Any help anyone is able to offer in this hard time is beyond appreciated: a share, prayers, donations, and well wishes, all of it. Thank you for your time.
