My name is Camila and I am looking for help for my mother. Her name is Mariella Parodi, she is 49 years old, lives in Peru and has suffered from severe ulcerative colitis since she was 29. Over the years she has had to undergo many medical treatments to cope with this difficult disease, as well as undergo a total colectomy 11 years ago. Over time, the colitis has returned with greater force and unfortunately in Peru there is not much knowledge about this disease, nor are the appropriate medications to treat it. She does not have international insurance that can cover the costs of the disease. Until now, we have covered the expenses individually as a family, but it is becoming impossible to continue covering them since as the disease worsens, she cannot work and earn enough to cover the expenses. According to our research, in Italy, the United States, Argentina, Chile and some other countries, specific treatments for ulcerative colitis can be found that are not available in Peru, which would allow her to continue enjoying life if she can receive the appropriate treatments. A week ago she was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia and is hospitalized in the clinic.
