Liver Cancer and Transplant. In need of some lifelines.

We are the Hodge family. Over the last few years we have been battling many medical and non medical emergencies. After Angela had contracted covid and spent 76 days in the hospital she was left unable to walk and on 6 liters of oxygen. She worked hard and had reduced her oxygen greatly and was walking again when Angela was diagnosed with terminal liver cancer. The family was scared and devastated, but moved forward with treatment to try and prolong life, while she tested for the transplant list. The treatment was new and instead of going in for a dose of radiation on schedule they inserted radiation pearls into her liver in a way to try to leach the radiation into the cancer. The radiation pearls delivered radiation 24 hours a day for months until the pearls “cooled” or died down. It made her awful sick and during this time she completed the extensive testing and was accepted to the transplant list. The day before Mothers Day in 2024 we got the call that a liver was available. Third time was a charm and the liver was successfully exchanged. Angela’s medical road since this has been pretty tough. Rejection at first was a big struggle. In this last month of May Angela had 3 surgeries, two of them were emergency surgeries. Angela’s liver is now a year old and seems to be doing well. Now after these last few emergencies seem to be hopefully on the mend. The next battle we are facing is figuring out what the thyroid cancer is doing. Hopefully it hasn’t grown and there might be a break in surgeries. The last months have been awful hard. We have had many trips, hours away and must stay there while Angela has the surgeries and hospital stays. We still have a couple of trips and stays this month. The last months during all this life has not stopped. Expensive car repairs, trips, and life continue to cause more strain. We have some pretty major repairs we need to do at home, we have had to either put off or just put a bandaid on a lot of our repairs. Angela has needed constant care and it does not seem to be resolving to quickly. She now has a virus that is only a cold or flu for a normal person but is very dangerous to someone with such a compromised immune system. Angela is very discouraged, her ability to walk has been really affected by all the surgeries and her current illness. We are also struggling with just day to day living expenses and our normal bills with all the travel and hospital stays. We haven’t been able to buy necessities like clothing during these times and everyone needs basic things. We hate to ask but there was no plan we had for this. Angela’s need for care and the condition her body is in now has caused Eric to need to care for her daily and he must also take care of everything we need in our daily lives such as cooking, laundry, yard care, etc. We are extremely grateful for any help given. We are hoping we are on the road to putting our lives back together and need help to do so. Thank you the Hodge family.

Tranding Fundraisers

I’ve created this fundraiser on behalf of my dear friends, Sarah and James, who are enduring every parent’s worst nightmare — the loss of their beloved son, Leo.

We’re heartbroken to share that our dear friend Alex passed away far too soon. His light, his laughter, his incredible spirit — they touched so many, and his absence is deeply felt.

Hi everyone — Angela here, writing on behalf of Matthew (for now). On December 6th, completely out of the blue, Matthew suffered a severe stroke.
