My name is VERNON, and I am raising funds to seek justice and proper care after a devastating experience at Brookhaven Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. I was drawn in by a misleading advertisement for a wellness weight loss program for bariatric patients—a program that did not even exist. During my over three-year stay, my health declined significantly. I developed new and worsening health issues, including mental health struggles, COPD, painful bed sores, and leg ulcers. I also witnessed and experienced abuse, neglect, malpractice, misdiagnosis, bullying, medication errors, and gross negligence. Now, I am on my own, disabled, and facing the enormous challenge of holding Brookhaven Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center accountable. I am seeking funds to file a lawsuit against both the facility and New York State for allowing such conditions to persist. In addition to legal fees, I urgently need medical supplies, equipment, and access to a qualified rehabilitation therapist—resources that were denied to me during my stay.
