Hello Family and Friends,
Today I am starting this fundraiser for My Aunt Grace “Somers” Kolek. It has taken a few weeks for me to do so because putting into words everything that has been going on has been very hard and actually typing it proves to be harder!
My Aunt was recently diagnosed with Stage 2/3 ColoRectal Cancer with possible spread, and so many other issues that have to be addressed before she can even start Radiation to shrink the mass or masses before surgery is even an option and further treatment after. This has already been a very hard fight for my poor Auntie and the hardest part has not even started.
This Thursday Auntie will go in for surgery to place a Colostomy Bag so she can eat and can have a little relief and hopefully some nutrients for yet again another fight for her life!
Grace is also Breast Cancer Survivor and she beat that! She can beat this nastiness too!
Grace is a Graduate of ESM High School along with all of her Sisters and Brothers. She comes from a large family headed by Ethel Somers that all stemmed from the East Syracuse area. Grace went on to marry Beno Kolek 45+ years ago and had her babies Benjamin and Michelle Kolek and they went on to make her a “Nani” of Graycin and Colton a title she wears very proudly! She is also a rock to myself and has helped me raise my own children whom absolutely adore her.
Right now she needs our support and prayers. This week alone she had to be seen 3 times before surgery and yet again another stay in the hospital. My Uncle is trying to work when he can and mostly this has all been on my beautiful cousin Michelle who has not left her Moms side. It’s becoming very costly and it’s been very hard for all. With that I am looking to ease their financial worries so she can focus on this fight!
