Georgie is the 5 year old Goldendoodle of Natalie Bleazard Bretz and David Bretz.
•May 28th Natalie realized something wasn’t quite right as Georgie stopped eating, which is very much so not her personality. After taking her to the vet they discovered she had a fever and they would need to run some test. What was then decided as most likely Lymes disease from a tick bite – she was put on antibiotics and they were able to break her fever after being hospitalized for a few days; and then she was sent home. Shortly after being home Georgie became sick again. Waking Natalie up in the middle of the night with undeniable symptoms, they rush led Georgie to the ER where they discovered her fever was back and the antibiotics were not being effective.
•After her primary vet and a specialist reviewed Georgie’s case it was decided that the underlying conditions were too uncertain and she would need to be admitted to the Auburn University Pet Hospital. This came at a hefty price but was the only option. She has had a consistent fever since and has had trouble with her breathing.
• Saturday 6/7 she went into an emergency procedure for the vets to take a piece of the liver to test for infection and cancer. Georgie’s body has been strong in fighting whatever is causing this illness but the cause is still uncertain. She now has pneumonia as her body is fighting this unknown and has been transferred to ICU 6/9 to be put on high oxygen support. Liver test results are still TBD.
This process is expensive but in the end will be worth it to help Georgie being her playful, goofy, snuggly self with the right medicine. We pray for the vets to discover the issue quickly and for the road to be easy to recovery for Georgie. Please join in lifting Georgie and the Bretz up in getting through this process – but also in a donation to help the burden of this cost to not be a limiting factor. If you have had a best friend like Georgie you know how very worth it she is- any support you are able to send is beyond appreciated.
