Madi (Rosenau) Waugh, the daughter of James and Gwenn (Miller) Rosenau, will undergo a kidney transplant on July 16, 2025, in Omaha, following a 7-year battle with Chronic Kidney Disease (Stage 4). Madi’s condition was stable but slowly declining until January 2025 when her kidneys began to rapidly worsen. She is now in kidney failure (Stage 5). Madi found out this week that she’ll need to begin dialysis today, June 12.
The GREAT news is that Gwenn has been approved to be Madi’s donor. The surgery will take place on July 16. After surgery and her time in the hospital to recover, Madi will need to stay near her transplant team in Omaha for 6 weeks.
There are numerous expenses for both Madi, Gwenn and their family over the next 3 months. Please join me in helping offset the cost of the lodging, travel and meals during the surgeries and Madi’s recovery time in Omaha. The whole family will be in Omaha during the transplant surgery and immediate recovery periods, and then Alex (Madi’s husband), Gwenn, James, Shelby, Tana and others will rotate their time in Omaha to keep Madi company and help with her daily care once she’s out of the hospital.
Madi graduated from Brandon Valley High School in 2017 and was very active in dance and cheer. She currently works as a Residential Treatment Counselor at the Children’s Home Society of South Dakota. Alex and Madi will celebrate their third anniversary in October.
James and Gwenn are both 1991 graduates of Clark High School and many of you also know Madi’s grandparents: Alice Miller of Sioux Falls and Fred and Patty Rosenau of Clark. Please join me in helping support Madi and Alex, Gwenn and James, and their family through this challenging time. If you prefer another donation method, please feel free to contact me for address or Venmo info, or the link to Madi’s Amazon Wish List.
