Hope for Carnecia: Healing After Emergency Heart Surgery

A message from Carnecia and Jordan’s family.

One can never predict tragedies that may strike you or someone you love, nor are we ever prepared when they do.

A few weeks ago on a typical Thursday at work, life was humming along until an unexpected, literally heart-breaking and life altering event occurred. Carnecia was rushed to the emergency room with severe chest pains, and diagnosed with a tear in her aortic valve. She was then rushed to the University of Minnesota Medical Center to undergo a 6-hour emergency surgery to replace her aortic valve, aortic root and ascending aorta.

By God’s grace and the prayers and support of many, she pulled through the surgery, only to experience complications afterwards, requiring her to remain in the Cardiac ICU for over a week as they tried to stabilize her, and then in the Cardiac care unit for two more weeks. She was recently transferred to an Acute Rehabilitation unit to continue to heal and get physical and occupational therapy to help get her strength back.

Carnecia is our daughter-in-law, Jordan is our son, and Jashari is their 4 year old son. Without a doubt, he is their pride and joy and it’s heartbreaking for him to see her in this condition. Carnecia is an incredible wife, devoted mother, loves her family more than anything and is always thinking of others. We want to show up for her now, in her time of need.

It will be many months before she will be able to return to work, and Jordan has had to reduce his work schedule to care for their 4-year-old son Jashari and be there for Carnecia.

We’ve created this fundraiser to help with their expenses and the immense medical costs that they’ve incurred and will continue to incur in the weeks and months ahead.

From the bottom of theirs and their entire family’s hearts, thank you for your prayers, your kindness, and any support you can give. This young family has already endured so much, and your generosity means more than words can express.

With love and humble gratitude,

Carnecia, Jordan, Jashari and all their family members <3

Tranding Fundraisers

I’ve created this fundraiser on behalf of my dear friends, Sarah and James, who are enduring every parent’s worst nightmare — the loss of their beloved son, Leo.

We’re heartbroken to share that our dear friend Alex passed away far too soon. His light, his laughter, his incredible spirit — they touched so many, and his absence is deeply felt.

Hi everyone — Angela here, writing on behalf of Matthew (for now). On December 6th, completely out of the blue, Matthew suffered a severe stroke.
