Dear friends, family and community,
We are reaching out to rally support for William De La Torre, a 28 year old, hard working, determined, and loving husband and father who was recently diagnosed with a large pituitary neuroendocrine tumour. This specific type of tumour, accompanied by the extreme excess of hormones that are being produced by the tumour, is causing symptoms like headaches, weight gain, insulin resistance, vision problems, high blood pressure, fertility issues, depression, irritability, cognitive difficulties, gastrointestinal issues, and extreme fatigue. This diagnosis, along with the symptoms it has caused, requires urgent surgery and a potentially lengthy recovery. A very scary, yet very possible risk of postponing this surgery is pituitary apoplexy, which is a sudden rupture of the tumour and a medical emergency.
The upcoming surgery, recovery, and related expenses are going to place a significant financial strain on Will’s family due to Will being the main source of income in his home. Donations will help cover:
-Medical expenses not fully covered by insurance or his tribe
-Possible hotel stays, parking, and transportation to and from the hospital
-Time away from work not fully covered by his paid time off that he has saved up
-Ongoing rehabilitation and recovery needs
-Basic living expenses
-As well as school supplies for Will’s two elementary school children
