My grandmother, Josefa Antonia Torres de Yepez—affectionately known as Toñita—has always been the heart of our family. She’s a caring mother, devoted wife, and a loving grandmother who has supported us through every challenge. Today, she needs our help more than ever. Toñita lives in Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela, where the current political and economic situation makes it nearly impossible for families like ours to access the medical care she urgently needs.
In July 2023, Toñita underwent hip replacement surgery. Since then, she has suffered from constant pain, and recent medical studies revealed that her prosthetic implant has shifted dangerously, pushing toward her bladder. Doctors have diagnosed her with coxalgia due to a loosened femoral prosthesis and have recommended a total hip replacement surgery. Unfortunately, the specific implant she needs is difficult to obtain in Venezuela, and the costs for surgery and recovery are far beyond what our family can afford.
This situation has deeply affected Toñita’s quality of life. She is in pain all the time, unable to sleep, sit, or walk comfortably. My aunt Yajaira is caring for her daily, but the burden is heavy. I am organizing this fundraiser to collect the necessary funds and transfer them directly to the
care provider so Toñita can finally get the surgery she needs. Any support, no matter the size, will bring us closer to giving her relief and restoring her well-being.
