Fundraising for Tewdros Genetu’s Life-Saving Kidney Transplant
My name is Meseret Melese, and I live in Canada. I’m organizing this fundraiser for a close family member, Tewdros Genetu, who is facing a life-threatening medical crisis in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Tewdros is a hardworking father of two young children, ages 8 and 11, and the main provider for his family. He was recently diagnosed with complete kidney failure. He is currently on dialysis, but this is only a short-term solution. Without a kidney transplant, his life is at serious risk.
A matching kidney donor has been found, which is a rare and urgent opportunity. However, the transplant cannot be done in Ethiopia due to limited medical services. The only available option is to travel to India for the surgery. The total cost for the transplant, hospital stay, medications, and travel is $50,000 USD — far beyond what the family can afford.
As a close relative, I’ve done what I can to help, but due to my own financial limitations, including being a full-time student, I am not able to support the cost alone. That is why I’m reaching out to people around the world — to ask for your help in giving Tewdros a second chance at life.
How the funds will be delivered:
All donations will be transferred directly to Tewdros’s bank account in Ethiopia to ensure transparency and timely access to the funds.
How the funds will be spent:
Surgery and hospital costs in India
Pre- and post-surgery medications
Medical travel and accommodation expenses
Ongoing dialysis until surgery
Your support will make a life-saving difference. Tewdros wants nothing more than to live and continue raising his children. Every donation, no matter the amount, brings us closer to that goal.
Thank you for your compassion and kindness.
