Hello All – my name is Adrianna Guerrero and I’m starting this fundraiser on behalf of my sister, Pieper Badillo, a 19-year-old mother with 2 young children battling Stage 1 AML (acute myeloid leukemia).
The past 6 months for Pieper have been a whirlwind of health issues and emotions. Flashback to March 2025 – Pieper started not feeling well: shortness of breath, sick to her stomach, cold-like tremors. She went in thinking it was the flu, only to find out she had developed a blood clot on top of her aortic valve due to a mitral regurgitation murmur. She immediately started on blood thinners due to not being a good candidate for surgery from damage to her heart muscle. Her survival rate of surgery was less than 20%.
On May 28, after weeks of blood thinning therapy and battling the clot thickening back up multiple times, we finally got the call that Pieper’s clot had dissolved completely and that she was officially clot-free.
On May 31, after only a couple of days of relief, we received a phone call that once again stopped us in our tracks, flipping our worlds upside down. Pieper was diagnosed with Stage 1 AML (acute myeloid leukemia), a very aggressive form of blood cancer.
Not only are we absolutely shattered by the news, but we have just now learned Pieper’s insurance is only covering 1/3 of ONE round of chemotherapy. ONE round of Chemo is $7,000. Pieper needs 3 rounds of chemo, on top of her partner having to take off work to help take care of her, the home, and the kids.
