On May 1st, Felicia Chandler, the eldest of three sisters and mother to four children, went to the emergency room for what she thought was a stubborn cold. Instead, she received a devastating diagnosis: Fungal
Endocarditis (a blood infection of the heart), Sepsis, Covid, a Staph Infection, pneumonia, and fluid in her lungs —all while being 23 weeks pregnant. She is also dealing with loss of vision. Felicia was urgently transferred to Indianapolis, where doctors are working tirelessly to save both her and her unborn baby. She is now facing a long road of treatments, including prolonged antibiotics, an angiogram, blood transfusions, and open heart surgery.
Felicia’s four children, ages 3, 7, 10, and 13, are at home missing their mom. Their father has taken a leave of absence from work to be by Felicia’s side every day in the hospital, while their grandmother has also stepped in, taking time off work to care for the kids. Other family members are making daily four-hour drives to support Felicia and her immediate family during this crisis. The emotional and financial strain is immense, with mounting medical bills, travel expenses, and the need to support Felicia’s children while their parents are away.
Felicia is known for her loud, loving personality and her deep devotion to her children. She’s overcome many challenges in life and means the world to her family. We are asking for your support to help cover medical costs, travel expenses for immediate family, and to provide for her children during this incredibly difficult time. Any contribution will make a difference as we rally around Felicia and her family.
