Hello my friends! Today you have the opportunity to help out a wonderful and vital member of our community here on fb, my friend Stephen of “I Acknowledge Psychedelic Class Warfare Exists.”
For those who don’t know, Stephen is dealing with a medical emergency related to a back injury he sustained back in 2017 while helping his cousin move. Due to the fact that he was battling homelessness, he wasn’t able to rest properly, and subsequent years of working as a dishwasher only exacerbated the injury.
Stephen and his page have done so much for the community here on Facebook. The page itself is one man’s insightful musings on philosophy, psychology, counter-culture and the political landscape – from an inclusive, progressive, unorthodox, and anti-capitalist perspective. Through his work on his page, he has done everything from deradicalizing potential fascists to enlightening well-meaning but misguided centrists.
But more importantly? He’s my friend, and he deserves to not be in pain.
Right now, the most immediate treatment for his debilitating pain is to replace his extremely old mattress and boxspring (and when I say old, I mean ‘purchased in 1983 by his mother’ old). As someone who has had spine surgery for back issues, I know firsthand how big of a difference that a mattress can make with regard to pain, as well as the ability to get good rest. Furthermore, his current mattress is literally making his injury worse, so it is critical to replace it ASAP.
We are hoping to raise enough money through this fundraiser to get Stephen a good mattress and boxspring, with funds to spare to remove the old mattress and deliver new one. Any additional donations will go toward helping Stephen find a good pain doctor so that he can get the relief from pain that he deserves.
