Help a Mother Fight Cancer – For Her Life and Her 9-Year-Old Son
My name is Sonila Kaziaj, a 44-year-old mother from Pogradec, Albania. For the past 7 years, I’ve been fighting an exhausting battle with Stage III breast cancer.
I underwent surgery in 2018 and have been on continuous chemotherapy ever since. Over time, the treatments have severely damaged my body. I’ve developed heart failure, for which I now take heavy medications. My veins have been so damaged that attempts to insert a Port-a-Cath led to a serious infection and brachial vein thrombosis.
I’m currently supposed to begin a new cycle of radiotherapy and chemotherapy, but it’s almost impossible because my veins can no longer handle it. In the meantime, I’m being kept stable only with strong doses of corticosteroids, which come with heavy side effects.
All of my family’s savings, my salary, my husband’s income, and the help of relatives have been spent on endless tests, scans, PET scans, MRIs, and travel to specialized clinics far from home. Emotionally and financially, I am at my breaking point.
But the worst pain is not physical — it’s the tears of my 9-year-old son. He has had to grow up too soon. He goes to school alone. He sees his mother suffering, and I can’t hide it from him anymore. I want to live — not just to survive, but to be a mother to my child, to raise him with love, to hold his hand as he grows.
I am humbly asking for your help. Whatever you can contribute will bring me closer to life — to more time with my son, to hope. Please consider donating or simply sharing this campaign.
With deep gratitude,
Sonila Kaziaj
