Hi, my name is Sean, and I recently went through an unexpected and intense medical emergency that resulted in emergency surgery and hospitalization.
Earlier this month, I developed a serious infection deep in the left side of my neck. After days of worsening symptoms and failed outpatient treatment, I was admitted to the hospital and underwent emergency surgery to drain a deep neck space abscess. The infection turned out to be aggressive, caused by Streptococcus pyogenes, and required immediate intervention under general anesthesia.
The procedure involved cutting into deep neck tissue and placing a surgical drain to manage the infection. I’m currently on multiple strong antibiotics, including IV and oral medications, and still healing with the drain in place. I’ve also tested positive for staph colonization, which requires additional care and monitoring.
This experience has been physically, emotionally, and financially overwhelming. I’ve had to take unexpected time away from work, and the costs of surgery, hospitalization, prescriptions, lab work, and follow-up care are quickly adding up — even with insurance.
I’m asking for help to cover:
• Hospital stay and surgical costs
• Post-op medications and wound care
• Follow-up appointments
• Lost income during recovery
Any amount you’re able to give — no matter how small — would mean the world to me. If you can’t donate, simply sharing this fundraiser is a huge help.
Thank you so much for your support, kindness, and encouragement during this time. I’m incredibly grateful.
