On Friday the 13th of June, our hearts were shattered when our 11-month old Yorkshire Terrier, Minnie, was hit-and-run outside my mother in-law’s house. Minnie was playing in their enclosed yard when she jumped on a planter and over the fence to chase a cat walking right by the fence. Unfortunately Minnie was struck by a speeding car that fled the scene.
For those who know our families, Minnie was gifted 1 year ago to my in-laws (from my parents) to share with them the special, unconditional love that only a dog could provide a household.
The emotional weight of this situation has been incredibly heavy on our hearts. We love our canine companions, I’m sure like many of you! So it’s incredibly difficult to articulate the pain we are feeling after this sudden catastrophe.
Unfortunately, we are also grappling with a substantial financial strain due to the unexpected medical care that Minnie urgently needs. Despite Christine’s efforts to plan for emergencies with pet insurance, the insurance is only covering $3,000 out of the estimated $18,000 required for:
- vital CT scans
- possible MRI to assess any neurological concerns
- around the clock monitoring/medication
- 2 surgeries to mend her broken femur and humerus
This has been a challenging time for us and we deeply appreciate any support during this difficult journey.
In today’s world, reaching out for help feels incredibly daunting. But we find ourselves in a situation where any support, no matter how small, would truly help. Your kindness could provide our precious Minnie with some comfort and help lighten the load we are carrying, as we are navigating this difficult journey of Minnie’s recovery.
Thank you for considering extending your support during this trying period.
It means more to us than words could express.
Sincerely,
Sandra and the Nueva family (Christine, Rod, Ryan and Marlon)
