Dear friends,
All of us in the community of people with chronic pain know our dear friend Anne Fuqua. She has been a tireless advocate for so many of us for over the last decade. She was one of the first people to tell her story about the under-treated pain epidemic in the United States in both the Washington Post and the New York Times
Over the years, Anne has diligently curated our stories, protected our narratives, and shared our experiences. Her work inspired the first study of pain patients who lost their lives due to opioid restrictions: https://www.csiopioids.org, on which she has worked on for the last several years. She has helped innumerable people find care in their communities, and has improved and saved the lives of so many.
Now, it is her time of need. She has experienced a major change in her financial circumstances and this has led us to ask on her behalf if we can donate to help her pay to maintain her medical care. Her monthly out-of-pocket medical expenses are significant and the monthly flights involved in accessing her provider are not covered by insurance or any other income source.
You can help by donating any amount so that her care would be assured for the next several months, giving her the ability to survive and manage her medical condition as she works to again get herself in a financially sustainable situation. She is seeking financial aid through multiple channels and is on waiting lists for subsidized housing, but the waiting lists are lengthy.
Thank you all for reading this and for contributing – any amount would be so helpful. She knows these are tough times for everyone and appreciates all your love, prayers, and thoughtfulness towards her.
Warmly,
Friends of Anne Fuqua
